Typical for the seax is that it has a single edged blade and that it is worn horizontally, with the sharp edge upwards. It occurred in several lengths, from a short knife to longer than a sword. This is a reconstruction of a typical early medieval short seax. The cross guard consists of two steel discs that are attached to the horn grip with
